I am not sure that words are sufficient to describe the beauty of Point Lobos State Reserve. You may tour the park by car, but until you walk the coastal trails you don't see the true beauty of this park. I have to thank someone in the park service for designing trails that resemble imagery from a movie set or from a dream. The photo below was shot right on the point of the Cypress Grove trail.
Point Lobos is located just 2.6 miles south of the CarmelMissionInn. Go to the park in the morning and walk, then return that evening (your pass is still good) for a sunset walk.
