The Annual 2013 Big Sur International Marathon is one of the most popular in the world. Considering the fact that the race starts in the gorgeous Big Sur Redwood Forest, continues out over Bixby Bridge with stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, and ends in quaint seaside town, Carmel-By-the-Sea, this is not a surprising fact. It has even been said that the picturesque views of the sparkling Pacific Ocean have motivated runners to “keep going!” The Marathon also has entertainment along the course by Samba Dancers, a classical piano solo played on a grand piano half-way through the course, and even Taiko drummers. Unfortunately, registration for the 2013 Big Sur Marathon is completely sold out, but runners still wanting to participate can gain entry by fund-raising for one of the Big Sur International Marathon's Charity Partners.
The race starts April 28th, 2013 at 6:45 A.M. one kilometer south of Pfeiffer State Park at the State Park Maintenance Area in Big Sur, Ca.
