Roll out the holly; bring out the tree, and string up the lights! It’s time to celebrate the holiday season in Carmel! Come to the intersection of Ocean Avenue and Junipero Street and join the denizens of Carmel-by-the- Sea at its annual Holiday Tree Lighting on Friday, December 7, 2012. Festivities start at 3:30pm and include a theatrical reading of “’Twas the Night before Christmas,” performances from local school choirs, appearances by Carmel city luminaries, and of course, the big man himself, Santa Clause. Sip on hot chocolate and munch on treats provided by the Red Cross while watching Carmel’s mayor, Jason Burnett, turn the lights on the grand tree.

Immediately following the tree lighting, walk a short distance and continue the celebration at Carmel Plaza’s Holiday Open House. Peruse stores while being treated to live music and other fun festivities that are sure to put anyone in the holiday spirit.

After the night’s events, you may decide to spend the evening in Carmel. The Carmel Mission Inn has already decked the halls and is continuing in the yuletide spirit by offering a special holiday season promotion. Make a reservation for any date between December 1, 2012 and December 23, 2012 and receive our best available rate, breakfast for two at Fuse Lounge Café, and two complimentary beverages.
